Models of Biological circuits
Feedback and decision taking are both elements
of biological systems.
In some cases, e.g. in development and in lysis-lysogeny decisions of temperate phages, a gene regulative system needs to decide which of a few possible states it wants to be in.
When such decisions are to be taken, positive feedback and sensitivity to single molecule fluctuations become important. We in particular
consider decision making in the core of temperate phages.
Response systems. In particular for responses related to external shocks, the genetic system
needs to increase production of certain repair proteins fast. We model a number of such response systems, including Heat shock, unfolded protein response and the SOS response.
